Exciting! MEN partners with the Tom of Finland Foundation

Leading gay porn studio Men.com has announced a far-reaching partnership with the Tom of Finland Foundation. Next year will mark the 100 year anniversary of the birth of Touko Valio Laaksonen (1920-1991). The Finnish illustrator – best known by his pseudonym Tom of Finland – is still considered an international gay culture icon. His influence on the gay community is immense, since he has introduced to gay sexuality to entire generations of men.

Bringing Tom’s Art to Life

Men.com and the Tom of Finland Foundation have teamed up to bring Tom’s art to life through pornography – and at the same time – keep the iconic illustrator’s legacy alive. The two brands have created a gay porn series based on and inspired by the classic works of Tom of Finland. The five-part series – named “1957” – will be made available through the Men.com website exclusively. Each episode of the series has been directed by a different director.

The first scene from “1957” is scheduled for release on the 13th of December. It’s a bareback threeway featuring Matthew Camp, Kurtis Wolfe and Theo Brady. The hardcore video trailer, along with promotional images, has been made available already.

The first three episodes from the “1957” series are period pieces based on classic Tom of Finland works. The fourth scene is a contemporary scene set in 2020 and the final episode will be set in the future, re-imagining Tom of Finland for a new generation.

Men.com has enlisted; Cory Krueckeberg (Getting Go, the Go Doc Project), Bruce LaBruce (Hustler White, L.A. Zombie, Gerontophilia), Terry Miller (It Gets Better Project), Matt Lambert (‘Worship’ Years & Years, ‘High School Never Ends’ Mykki Blanco) and Casey Spooner (formerly of Fischerspooner) to bring their interpretations of the Tom of Finland universe to life.

Directors’ Commentary

Tom of Finland’s drawings have always intrigued me and turned me on as a kind of burlesque of gay male sexuality. It’s a performative masculinity that also happens to be extremely hot. There is much joy in the representation, as well as an underlying current of humor and irony,” says director Bruce LaBruce.

Casey Spooner had this to say about his involvement in this exciting project; “Tom of Finland has always turned me on! I used to collect the Kake comics in the 90´s. Obviously, I love the physical exaggeration and wild narratives. I also admire his freedom and ability to clearly express his deepest desires. I plan to do the same but in the 21st century with the best and newest technology. The future is now!

Berlin based director Matt Lambert followed with “My film in the series, was a chance to rewrite my own history growing up in LA – to create a fantastical version of my own youth through the Tom of Finland lens. This reality is one that I’m starting to see come to life in Los Angeles  and one that Berlin has given me.’’
